Steamboat Springs

Stacy and Jeb spent a long weekend in Steamboat Springs. The first few days were rainy/snowy and we spent them wandering around town and cozying up to a fire with happy hot chocolate. The next few pictures are of a public trail along the Yampa River that we walked in the rain. The last two days of the trip were sunny and warm so you'll see some picture of us hiking.

Fish Creek Falls Trail

Our first day of good weather we hiked up to the Upper Fish Creek Falls. The lower falls are just a few minutes from downtown Steamboat Springs. The trail take you up a ridge and then along the side of a deep canyon (Stacy was nervous at times) and up to a high knoll where you find the Upper Fish Creek Falls.

For the three days before this hike it had rained in Steamboat and snowed up in the mountains. This trail was pretty exposed so we didn't slog it too much. You can tell from the pictures that only a few hundred feet above us, the climate was quite different. The trees were completely iced over.
