Hiking Above Mittenwald
There are hiking paths radiating in all directions out of Mittenwald. We chose a path that led up through some woods to some alphine lakes in the shadow of some moderate sized mountains. As you can tell from the pictures, the whole area was lush and green - even in late October. We ate lunch at a cafe set on a lake under a mountain peak and then walked up into the alpine meadows to get some sun and sleep off the beer from lunch. This was one of our best days on the trip, despite Stacy's un-fondness for hiking.

Alpine Meadow
This is the alpine meadow in which we napped after lunch. It was as beautiful as it looks and then some. The field was bathed in sun for most of the afternoon and with a cool wind coming down off the mountain peak (to our right out of the frame). I hope to get back to this area again in the future.

Frolicking Lambs
On our way down the mountain, we came upon a field with sheep and several young lambs. They would run and jump around while their parents ate. This is one of a series of high-speed shots that captures one in mid-frolick.
