Family trip to the Beach

We decided to get away for a long weekend. We went to Seagrove Beach, in Florida (it's on the panhandle, at the Gulf). Simon enjoyed his first experience at the beach. It will be months before we get all of the sand out of all of our things, and I'm not sure his stroller will ever be the same again - melted popsicles are pretty tough on fabric! We celebrated Jeb's birthday at Picolo's/The Red Bar in Grayton Beach, and afterward we decided to take a little family walk on the beach. Once we got out there, we realized the evening light was just perfect for some pictures and we started snapping. They turned out pretty well! Hope you enjoy them...

This sand is so soft - it's fun to fling it around! Posted by Picasa

Oh yuck, it got in my eyes!! Posted by Picasa

Such a big boy!! Posted by Picasa

Simon's Backside

... is all we see now that he knows how to walk. He will just take off, and if you run up behind him and say "I'm gonna GITCHA!" he will squeal and start laughing. But of course he won't stop moving. I don't know how babies intrinsically know what "I'm gonna gitcha" means when they have never actually been "gotten" in their little tiny lives, but I think it must be similar to the phenomenon that causes Abby to come running into the kitchen every time she hears a plastic bag crinkle, even though she never gets to eat anything that comes out of a crinkly plastic bag. Hmm... strange.

See ya! Posted by Picasa

Daddy is on the phone with uncle Jeremy. Now is my chance to escape! Posted by Picasa

See you two goobers later! I'm going to party with some other babies!! Posted by Picasa

Are you really going to "get me?" I need to turn around and check to be sure. Yep, there you are! I'm off running again! Posted by Picasa

Bubbles on the Back Porch

Simon has an automatic bubble machine (what will they think of next...) that literally blows thousands of bubbles per minute. We thought it would be fun to put it outside for him while he splashed in his pool. Simon thought it was fun too! Needless to say, he learned to say "bubble" on this day.

A warm day, some bath toys, and thousands of bubbles. What else could a boy want? Posted by Picasa

I'm amazed he could still find his toys given all of the bubbles! Posted by Picasa

4th of July Weekend

Lollie and Pop came to visit. It was a short visit but we did the usual - up at dawn for the Peachtree Road Race, come home, eat, nap, eat some more, then eat some ice cream to top it all off, nap again, do something 4th of July-ish, all the classics.

This was one of our hottest July 4th's in recent years. It was 85 and very muggy by around 10:00. You can see how hot poor little Simon was during the parade.

I came, I saw, I paraded. Can we go back in the a/c now?? Posted by Picasa

It's almost too hot to celebrate!! Posted by Picasa

Happy 4th of July!! Posted by Picasa

I wonder if I can eat the rest of it in one bite?? Posted by Picasa

He he he - this is awesome! Posted by Picasa

Sharing some ice cream. Posted by Picasa

There's a kid eating cookies over there - I'm going to get in on that. Posted by Picasa

Simon speeding off, away from mommy and daddy. Didn't he just want us to hold him a few weeks ago? What happened? Posted by Picasa
